In this week, there weren't any class but there was a task given by our module leaders which we are needed to watch a documentation movie called "Design Distruptors" . The film talks about design companies in the topics on The transformative power of design, a number of designers or practitioners in this documentation teaches us a a new never before seen perspective on design approaches of these companies.

The task we are given were to watched this movie and give a reflection about it.

NOTE: This is my take of the reflection towards this video, which I have gathered and understand from my point of views. If I do miss stuff that I didn't put in this blog I do apologize. Each designer has their points to understand and growth on their own time.

I learnt a lot from this documentary which each designer has their own set goals to achieve as a designer. Not only that, this quote is always being mentioned everywhere " Designers are problem solvers, innovators" . They don't create just for the sake of creating stuff.

In the first part of the documentation they talked about UI/UX or as you called it "User interaction or User Experience" . They used UBER as an example where they solved user's experience by looking at phone for car's location to pick you up upon booking on UBER. The previous way to call taxi is to wave a hand or head straight to the taxi stand area to get the taxi. But now in the modern era, where technology is the future, it makes our lives easier as we are able to access them. And

I find this particular clip where they did an exercise called "Design sprint" where they were given a time limit of 15 minutes to 30 minutes to give ideas and discuss after the time limit has end. Which in my opinions it does work if you are working in a group but doing it alone will be very tough. But this process I will try to implement in my future works or collaboration with other designers.

I saw a quote that mentions about

"Always look at both side experience towards this issue" . From what I understand from this quote is that in every problem there is always 2 sides of the story. Not only from the company but the users as well are just as important because user's interaction is what makes the growth of the products worth.

According to John Maeda, he stated that "Designers changes same as business & technology. If technology advances, we don't need design. But if technology matures, that's where design comes in the foreground". I totally agree to his statement.

CONSISTENCY IS IMPORTANT

And from here on, there isn't more information I could give, but I did took out a few pointers that was mentioned in the documentation. And I will give my opinion towards the pointers.

Design isn't art. Design will evolve. To this I really agree, because art has been in the same form from the olden ages until now and nothing much has been evolved. While design will remain evolved because with the extensive use of technology to design anything.

Diversity is vital. Be uncomfortable. Be exposed to other cultures. This is one of the ways to understand the problems which we don't get involved much with. Join the other cultures, don't be afraid of something new. Everyone is changing to be better

Don't love your own design, it's wrong and its not for ourselves to enjoy. It's for the people enjoyment. Loving your own design is like doing your work without a purpose or you do it for you enjoyment. Design problems are all about conveying the message to the audience and to it our job is meant to solve problems in general.

And lastly, any idea that you have. There will have a better version of it along the way as you progress. And if any problem fails, keep trying and trying and trying. Any idea will bring new inspiration towards the issue and problem solving issue.
