Smile
Description
One of the final year projects I had done which we are required to find an external brief from competition or freelance jobs. So I came upon this competition brief. The theme of this short film competition is "Connect".
The idea of the video

Covid had definitely separated and taken away a lot of people from their family. And this video is to tell them that even if we separated from them physically and mentally, all we have to do is smile and look forward.

The style of the video is the music will lead the story of the short film. No audio script.

The music that is used in this short film is called "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin.
Why
Due to this pandemic that has happened to all of
us, has aected many things. Especially,
disconnecting with people or losing loved ones
and such. And I wanted to make this video with
“Smile” to put hope in the people to put a smile
on their face no matter how tough the situation
is. Smiling has been the main source of positivity
in life but sometimes it is okay to be negative.
Inspired by
"Smile" is a song based on an
instrumental theme used in the soundtrack for
the 1936 Charlie Chaplin movie Modern Times
Style of the video
The style of the video is towards silent film style where there will be no
one talking but the music paths the way of the story. The short film
itself doesn’t need to speak to understand the story but the scene and
the music will bring in the mood of the scene itself. Having that as a
narrative style which is much simpler to execute in terms of actors and
plotting the scripts.
Sypnopsis
Synopsis, Len, had lost his brother to Covid and he is in grieve.
So the last thing that he got from his brother was a (object).
He tried to approached to his friends to ask for help but he was
scared and very sad so he didn't went up to them. But their friend had noticed about his loss. They approached to Len. As his friends tried to cheer Len up, he kept pushing them away as he was suffering very badly on the inside. And they noticed Len is carrying the object that his brother gave it to him before his passing. So they all decide to get one altogether and talk to him and have fun and such to get his mind o and to smile. And one day, Len decided to talk to them about how he feels about the whole grieving stage that he is going through and smiling will be the only thing he needs to do from then on.
